Esport Concentration

Unique in its kind, our program allows us to use the passion of young people for electronic sport to motivate them to stay actively involved in their learning process. Our educational framework is inspired by the theory of self-determination and places student autonomy at the heart of its approach.

More than playing skills, we want to develop in students the ability to think and learn on their own.

The Electronic Sports Concentration is a comprehensive, multi-year program inspired by the Sports-Studies model. Its goal is to develop cyber athletes with a balanced lifestyle and able to adapt to the rapid changes in the field of electronic sport. It includes participation in competitive esports leagues from the second year of the program, and an introduction to the various trades related to esport.

Balanced programs

1 – Health and physical activity

25% of our class time is dedicated to health and physical activity.

We educate students about cyber addiction issues and healthy lifestyles.

Rather than a moralistic approach, we emphasize to students the importance of staying in good health in order to perform in their discipline.

In addition to allowing young people to stay active, physical activity allows them to improve their motor skills and develop the desire to move.

2 – Theory

30% of our class time is dedicated to the theoretical acquisition of knowledge.

Our goal is to teach students to understand on an abstract level the concepts behind the strategies used in the game.

Most of its concepts apply very well outside the context of esports: odds, risk taking, return on investment, maximum use of limited resources, etc.

3 – Supervised practice

45% of our class time is dedicated to supervised play.

By devoting just under half of our lessons to practice, we limit the time students spend in front of a screen.

Supervised practice of the game is similar to training in traditional sports. The teacher identifies elements to practice and provides exercises to achieve these goals.

This program is spread over five years, so 36 weeks per school year at a rate of 18 hours per week approximately. If we are good at mathematical calculation, we are talking here about more than 3000 hours of cyber-athlete development at the complete end of the program, with a high school diploma in hand for all graduates!

Each aspiring player must first join one of our partner schools. If you are not already enrolled in a partner school; then plan to take the admissions exams and procedures from October BEFORE the year of entry, to facilitate the process in the event of a possible integration into the Académie Esports de Montréal :

For the Académie de Québec:

Académie Sainte-Marie (https://academiesaintemarie.ca/nos-programmes/esport/)

If your child’s school is not already a partner with us, come up with the idea of an esport concentration program in their establishment!
